YOakleyPR is a proud to offer the award-winning YOakleyPR Virtual Internship Program for undergraduate and graduate students interested in gaining practical experience in public relations, marketing, human resources, graphic design, B2B consulting, and business administration.

internshipsThe YOakleyPR Virtual Internship Program is designed to offer its participants hands-on experience, mentoring, and academic enrichment in an effort to promote the development of industry-relevant skill sets and further prepare participants for entrepreneurship or the workforce.

During their internships, participants work with 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organizations seeking support services. By engaging in weekly training meetings and collaborative assignments, participants work in teams of 3-5 participants in order to research, develop, and execute integrated marketing communications plans that make long-lasting and sometimes tangible improvements these charitable organizations—while providing the participant with a valuable portfolio that can immediately transition into the workplace.

Current undergraduate students with junior or senior status, graduate students, as well as recent graduates, are invited to apply for a virtual internship for the current or upcoming semester. This internship program runs on a rolling admissions basis with positions available during the traditional spring, summer, and fall semester cycles. All participants who successfully complete the program have the opportunity to receive: resume critiques, complimentary access to our online course, professional development one-on-ones with a dedicated mentor, a letter of recommendation, a LinkedIn Recommendation, LinkedIn Skill Endorsements, as well as online and print samples for their personal portfolio.

Marketing / Public Relations Internship

A part-time intern position assisting with the development and implementation of integrated marketing communication plans for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, and Delaware.

As a Marketing / Public Relations Intern, you will:

  • Contribute to integrated marketing communications campaigns for registered nonprofits and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations by analyzing, reviewing, and reporting on effectiveness of campaigns to maximize results and help evolve strategy.
  • Receive free access to our online course: Integrating Social Media in Business ($99 Value).
  • Monitor HARO for appropriate leads and pitch story concepts relevant to client products, services and programs while developing relationships with media professionals on the local, regional, and national levels.
  • Research, develop and implement a social media plan for client social media channels, such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Contribute to The YOakleyPR Blog by writing at least one 500-700 word blog post per month (featuring your byline), press releases, media pitches, social media guides, and other content.
  • Track and monitor media placements, industry trends, and social-media benchmarks for monthly, quarterly, end of campaign, client-facing reports.
  • Participate in team meetings and other meetings and educational seminars as appropriate.
  • Learn the basics of search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) by becoming familiar with Google AdWords, Google Keyword Planner Tool, and Google for Nonprofits.
  • Learn the basics of email marketing by drafting, proofing, testing, and deploying at least one email marketing campaign per month to a dedicated subscriber list using Mailchimp.
  • Learn how to manage a WordPress website as it relates to on-page SEO and marketing for nonprofits.
  • Grow your network and support the growth of the YOakleyPR Virtual Internship Program by attending young professional networking events in your local area.
  • Gain practical experience and create portfolio samples that make you an appealing candidate for a full-time position with a public relations or marketing firm / agency.
  • Participate in mandatory weekly team meetings, as well as other meetings and educational seminars as appropriate.

Human Resources Internship

A part-time intern position assisting with the development and administration of various human resource plans and procedures for a boutique public relations firm in an effort to make YOakleyPR an awesome place for undergraduate and graduate students to intern.

As a Human Resources Intern, you will:

  • Contribute to the development of the Virtual Internship Program’s team.
  • Create and update onboarding and exiting materials, including handbooks, training manuals and surveys.
  • Participate in identifying and developing team goals and objectives.
  • Plan and execute employee incentive plans, including the Intern of the Month Award.
  • Assist in the evaluation of reports and recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements.
  • Increase awareness of the Virtual Internship Program and its internship offerings.
  • Assist in conducting recruitment efforts for contractors or part-time interns, write and place advertisements, read and evaluate resumes, create interview questions, and conduct interviews over the phone.
  • Maintain personnel records, and handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Participate in team meetings and other meetings and educational seminars as appropriate.
  • Any additional reasonable request deemed necessary by management.
  • Advise senior management of those situations which may pose a significant risk to the program or impact the customer satisfaction results.

Graphic Design Internship

A part-time intern position assisting with the development of marketing materials such as brochures, logos, infographics, postcards, flyers, and newsletters for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, and Delaware.

As a Graphic Design Intern, you will:

  • Contribute to integrated marketing communications campaigns for registered nonprofits and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations by analyzing, reviewing, and reporting on effectiveness of campaigns to maximize results and help evolve strategy.
  • Receive free access to our online course: Integrating Social Media in Business.
  • Work with the public relations team to design and create marketing materials such as press kits, brochures, save the date postcards, newsletters, etc.
  • Have the opportunity to work on select graphic design projects as an independent consultant
  • Participate in department meetings and other meetings and seminars as appropriate.
  • Gain practical experience and create portfolio samples that make you an appealing candidate for a full-time position with an advertising firm / agency.
