The Pink Stilettos Initiatives are sponsored by the Coalition of Hope Offering Inner City Empowerment Services, Inc. (CHOICES), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, grassroots, organization founded in 2002 by Desiree Potts and her long-time best friend, Teresa Waters.
The mission of CHOICES is to empower inner-city youth by providing traditional and nontraditional learning activities, enrichment programs, after school programs, and entrepreneurial programs through workshops, seminars, training, field trips and classrooms—ultimately providing a model of excellence in education and life skills, enabling our youth in becoming productive citizens in a competitive world.
In 2011, CHOICES co-founder, Teresa Waters Powell, was diagnosed with Triple Negative, Stage 2 Breast Cancer, three days before her 46th birthday.
In October 2011, CHOICES launched the Pink Stilettos Initiatives in an effort to advocate for breast cancer patients like Teresa and provide them with a resource to assist with the emotional, physical, and financial hardships that can be a result of breast cancer treatment.
Since its inception, the Pink Stilettos Initiative has directly impacted almost 1,000 men and women actively pursuing cancer treatment and breast cancer survivors in the City of Chester, PA and the Tri-State area.
