YOakleyPR Intern of the Month for April 2016

Congratulations to Faten Bazzi, our April Intern of the Month!

Faten Bazzi, Intern of the MonthFaten Bazzi’s journey began when she enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Administration program at Baker College. Faten’s family moved from the United States to Brazil in 1993, so going back to school wasn’t as simple as enrolling in a few evening courses at the local community college.

“When I decided to go back to college, the best option was to do it online. At that time, there weren’t many online degree programs available, so I decided to pursue a business degree. That is how I was able to deepen my understanding of what marketing entails and developed a passion for marketing,” said Bazzi.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in marketing from Baker’s College in June 2011, Bazzi began seeking virtual work opportunities for practical experience. One such experience came in the form of the Braathe Enterprises Virtual Internship Program, which eventually led Faten to YOakleyPR.

During her internship with Braathe, Bazzi was responsible for managing internal human resources functions and gained experience addressing the needs of external clients and customers. Bazzi highlighted her experience by stating, “I believe that my previous internship and my work experience with Braathe will have a positive influence on my future.”

Faten’s success did not come easy; in fact she overcame many obstacles.  One of which was being faced with rejection from potential employers and overcoming the lack of opportunities available to her in Brazil.  Despite these obstacles, Faten is persistent and consistently displays commitment to not giving up on her long-term goal of seeking full-time employment with a reputable marketing company.

Faten joined the YOakleyPR Virtual Internship Program‘s marketing team in January 2016 with the goal of taking her experience to the next level.

Since the start of her internship, Faten has sought to learn and master the fundamentals of marketing, especially as it relates to email marketing, blogging, and search engine marketing.  She enjoys researching new business leads and strategizing with her teammates to identify just how our team can serve nonprofits in the United States.

When asked about her time at YOakleyPR, Bazzi said, “It is well organized and very straightforward. I love the fact that we meet once a week and receive proper training and that Mrs. Owens always seems to know what is going on with everyone on the team.”

“One of the things that I really admire is that there is great communication and honesty. Moreover, one gets to interact with diverse individuals and various nonprofit companies—allowing me to gain hands-on business experience,” she said.

Bazzi also notes that great leadership attributed to her success and she urges anyone who is thinking about applying to go ahead and do it because they would not regret it.

“It’s a great place to learn and Mrs. Owens is a great professional, educator and person to learn from,” said Bazzi, a Spring 2016 Marketing Intern.

Here are some of the wonderful things that Faten’s colleagues had to say about her:

“She is a fantastic coworker. Any time I had a question I could rely on her to answer it in a timely fashion. I can tell she works very hard because of the time and effort she portrays in all of her projects. She is very involved and not afraid to ask questions.”

“She is very involved. She is always the first one to respond and analyze posts on potential leads and is always working on looking at previous open projects. Basecamp is always being updated with her giving good feedback. She also went out of her way to help us find another website that grades how well our potential leads websites are doing.”

“Faten helped me figure out where to look for help with Google AdWords. She is positive, friendly, and as I mentioned before, always giving valuable feedback on different posts. I feel very comfortable with Faten. I feel as though she is very capable of answering questions and participating in a conversation about how to approach potential clients.”

Congratulations Faten! Your efforts have paid off. You will be receiving a $25 gift card in the mail, plus a little something extra to put on your resume. Keep up the good work!
