YOakleyPR Wins Award at the 2015 PRSA Philly Pepperpot Awards

PRSA Philly Yasheaka Oakley OwensPhiladelphia, PA – Dec. 3, 2015 – Yasheaka Oakley Owens, MA, owner of YOakleyPR, received the Anthony Fulginiti Award for Commitment to Education from the Philadelphia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) at the annual Pepperpot Awards. The Pepperpots program, which recognizes excellence in public relations programming in Greater Philadelphia, hosted its award ceremony last night at the Cescaphe Ballroom in Philadelphia. Pat Ciarrocchi, longtime anchor at CBS3, emceed the event.

The Anthony Fulginiti Award was established to honor a public relations professional who shares Rowan University professor Tony Fulginiti’s commitment to the future of the profession. The award honors a person who excels in education, either through their mentoring/teaching, their efforts to help shape the careers of future PR professionals, or their contributions to PRSSA.

On December 2, 2015, PRSA Philadelphia awarded Owens with the Anthony J. Fulginiti Award in recognition of the YOakleyPR Virtual Internship Program and its work to educate and challenge undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Since launching the YOakleyPR Virtual Internship Program in 2013, Owens has served more than 100 participants and the program has become a recognized internship provider at more than 50 higher education institutions around the country. Owens is one of the youngest recipients of the Anthony Fulginiti Award for Commitment to Education since the award’s inception in 1988.

“I am honored to receive this award from the Philadelphia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America,” said Yasheaka Oakley Owens, MA, Owner of YOakleyPR. “As a young professional myself, it is very encouraging to have seasoned professionals in my field acknowledge my efforts to empower other young professionals interested in public relations.”

The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) is the world’s largest organization for public relations professionals. The organization has more than 30,000 professional and student members, which represent business and industry, counseling firms, independent practitioners, military, government, associations, hospitals, schools, professional services firms and nonprofit organizations. The Philadelphia Chapter has approximately 600 members.
