Congratulations to Dane Seltenreich, our May Intern of the Month!
Dane Seltenreich joined the YOakleyPR Virtual Internship Program as an Online Marketing Intern in February 2016. Although a career in marketing wasn’t what Dane originally imagined when he started college (he was originally a secondary education major), Dane found that he had a passion for business and a desire to better understand people.
As a Economic and History major at Susquehanna University, Dane’s philosophy is, “You have to know where people have come from in order to understand where they need and are trying to go.”
When Dane originally interviewed for the Online Marketing position, he stated, “If there is team conflict, I would extend my assistance by asking where we’re having the problem and how can I assist to move the project along.”
Throughout his internship, Dane held true to this promise by consistently providing his fellow interns with suggestions and even hosting one-on-one training sessions to help them overcome their challenges with Google AdWords. His eagerness to learn and talent for quickly mastering technology allowed Dane to increase the performance of the Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County Google Ad Grant in the areas of keyword selection, budget management, clicks, and Web visits.
When asked about his experiences at YOakleyPR, Dane said, “I was surprised by the challenge of it all. This is the most work I have ever had to do for one internship and I love every second of it. This internship is a fantastic roller coaster that, in the end, you will hope never stops.”
“I really enjoyed working with Mrs. Owens,” said Seltenreich. “I have learned so much from her that my brain is ready to explode with knowledge of advertising/marketing.”
Dane said that he was motivated to pursue this marketing internship because, “The thrill of getting customers to go from one brand to my own and defeating the completion. That’s what pushes me to want to be the best that I can be in the field of marketing. It’s always a challenge each and every day and propels me forward.”
Here are some of the wonderful things that Dane’s colleagues had to say about him:
Although I have not worked directly with Dane, I noticed that he works even when he is isn’t feeling his best! Dane puts extra effort to ensure his work is completed properly and on time. Dane works great with the team. He is always willing to explain ideas and assist his team members with learning new applications.
Dane is an extremely hard worker. I can tell that he cares so much about the work that he does and polishing his skills. An example of this is his work with increasing his Google AdWords clicks and his work on creating reports from it. Dane set a goal and strives to reach it every single day.
When I reach out to him for help he replies pretty quickly and likes to help me understand what I am having difficulty understanding. He is honest and straight forward and provides me with words of encouragement.
Congratulations Dane! Your efforts have paid off. You will be receiving a $25 gift card in the mail, plus a little something extra to put on your resume. Keep up the good work!
Long-Term Career Goals:
I would definitely like to work in a field that encompasses sales and marketing giving me the opportunity to travel. (I really would like to one day live in London again after studying abroad there in my Junior year).
Short-Term Career Goals:
Since this internship will lead me through graduation and will continue through much of my summer I would like to gain as much experience in marketing as possible and hopefully this will lead to a great opportunity after college .
Recently Accomplished Goals:
Getting people to come to a small museum I worked at last semester as well completing my history degree portion completely
One of my major life goals is to visit every country in Europe!
